Wiccans believe in the five classical elements, though unlike in ancient Greece, they are usually seen as symbolic as opposed to literal. The five elements are:

  • Air, which is symbolised by east.
  • Fire, which is symbolised by south.
  • Water, which is symbolised by west.
  • Earth, which is symbolised by north.
  • Spirit, which unites the other four. It is symbolised by the centre of the penagram.

The five elements are symbolised by the five points of the pentagram, the most prominently used symbol of Wicca.

The following picture shows the elements and their usual symbols. Please remember that a pentagram is not always in a circle, it is just most commonly seen in a circle.
